MARCH 21, 2010 - ENCINO VELO NEWS

That's how fast Daniel #440 rode his standing 500. That's a new track record! Not just for Juniors, for anyone. He beat the old record by
> almost half a second. He also beat the reigning national champion by  over two seconds.

> Then he went out and won the Junior Omnium. Then he got second to
> Alex Walters in the Cat 3/4 omnium. Then he helped beat a bunch of
> adults in the Team Sprint. Then he probably went to Disneyland or  something.

>

In the Junior 10/12, Nick  took off and destroyed that little bastion of evil,
> otherwise known as Kevin Cross. Then he puked. The two younger
> Horvets, Jacob and Jimmy also rode very well. And they didn't puke, they knew better.

>

> In the Junior 13/16s we started off with Steven Dollinger lapping the
> field in the points race. Then he almost unlapped the field. Then he
> caught back up. Quite exciting! Daniel won almost every sprint.
> Jordan Z. Scotty C., and Alex "Polski" H. kept everyone else in check and did some
> damage on their own. Sam joined Nick in the vomitorium but did well
> until his brain tried to explode.

> In the Scratch race, Scotty Cohen lapped the field and would have had
> victory sewn up except the officials were too distracted to notice. And they
> get paid for this? Daniel won the sprint and took the omnium.
> Steven Dollinger might have have won the whole thing except that
> someone took a bunch of spokes out of his front wheel with two laps to go.
>
> Then we had the 3/4 Omnium. Daniel was getting bored with winning so
> he helped Alex get the win. Kind of interesting that the powers that
> be at USAC won't give Alex his upgrade even though he beats the 3s
> handily!
> Michael Bermudez set up the attack and South Bay played right into our
> plans. Without Michael, this might not have worked! He's one of
> those guys who doesn't get the glory but certainly deserves a lot of
> the credit!
> The women's field was stacked with ex pros, Masters World Champions,
> and world record holders. Erica rode great in her first track race
> but was defintely out matched. But not by much.
> In the 5's, new teammate Iain, no, not a misspelling, Took the win and
> was ably assisted by Dan Nelson, Phil Walters, Zach, and Billy. This
> was actually some of the fastest racing of the day but once again, we
> pulled it out.
>
>
>
> We actually won every men's event that we entered.
> Keith Grine rose from the MIA pile and rode lead for Team Sprint with
> Daniel and Alex. And of course, won. It was kind of sad watching a
> couple of Masters National champions getting destroyed by a bunch of
> kids. One of whom can't even legally drive yet. I felt kind of bad
> for Jack Lindquist who was wishing that his leadouts would get out of
> his way. They set a time that would have podiumed at Elite Natz last
> year. And they're only going to get better.

This is going to be a > GREAT year!
